They Will Rise In The Judgment

In True North by Morne Stephanus

Jesus, when talking to the Pharisees and Scribes who desired a sign from Him, said the following: The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here (Matthew 12:41). The Lord wanted the Pharisees and Scribes to know that a standard was set by the Assyrians. Since they repented at the preaching of Jonah, the Jews ought to have repented at the preaching of Jesus, seeing that He is infinitely greater. As Christians, we need to make sure that we learn this principle before it is eternally too late. In the first century, Christians turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6) and went everywhere preaching the gospel (Acts 8:4). They did this without planes, trains, and automobiles. Without Internet, social media, radio or television. Because we have exceedingly and abundantly more ways and means to reach the lost, we ought to do better than the Christians in the first century. If we do not, they will certainly rise in judgment against us.
